TP400-D6 Engine Project |
|
|
TP400-D6 turboprop engine design and development activities formally began on May 2003 after determining TP400-D6 as the engine which will power the A400M military transport aircraft 10 ea. of which will be purchased also by Turkish Air Force.
Design, development and manufacturing of TP-400-D6 engines are carried out by Europe Europrop International Consortium (EPI). EPI consortium comprises German MTU Aero Engines, French Snecma, English Rolls-Royce and Spanish Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP).
TEI participates to TP400-D6 engine project as risk and revenue sharing partner with Spanish Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP). Within this scope, responsibility of design, development, prototype manufacturing, assembly, test, mass production and after-sales support of the work packages mentioned below belongs to TEI.

Special to Project Test Equipment - SPTE
First started on October 28, 2005, TP400-D6 is the most powerful turboprop engine in America and Western Europe with 11.000 horse power. (SHP) First propeller engine was tested on February 28 2006 and flight-tested with a C-130 plane on December 17, 2008, TP400-D6 engine’s flight test was performed on the A400M plane for the first time on December 11, 2009 in Sevilla, Spain.

F-16 Peace Onyx IV (PO-IV) Project |
|
|
TEI carries on its activities for “Peace Onyx IV (Additional F-16 Supply Project)” to meet the demand of Turkish Air Force with 30 ea. improved F-16 block 50 aircraft , by improving present air power and supporting beyond 2010 years. Within the scope of this project, manufacturing of 42 ea. F110-GE-129B engines of 30 ea. F16 aircrafts along with the spares will be carried out in TEI.

ATAK Helicopter Project (Modular Manufacturing) |
|
|
ATAK Helicopter Project aims to meet the demand of Turkish Land Forces’s
attack /reconnaissance helicopter by integrating high-tech avionic
devices, whose software and hardware are nationally designed, to a
supplied helicopter platform. Within the scope of this project, 50 ea.
(+41 optional) attack /reconnaissance helicopter will be procured.
Power turbine modules belonging to the LHTEC CTS800-4 engine are being
developed by Rolls-Royce and Honeywell companies for Agusta Westland
A129 helicopters and are manufactured in TEI.

General Purpose Helicopter Supply Project |
|
|
TEI participates in General Purpose Helicopter Procurement Project in order to supply 109 ea. general purpose helicopters and 247 ea. engines along with the spares with maximum usage of national resources, which is the demand of Turkish Armed Forces and other government institutions. TEI’s main objective in this project is carrying out licensed production of the engines which will empower the helicopter platforms under the name plate of TEI and to provide after-sales support service.

Target Aircraft and UAV Projects (TEI-TP-1X engines) |
|
TJ-1X With increase in demand to Unmanned Ariel Vehicles and correspondingly the start of manufacturing projects in military/civil sectors, the necessities on the thrust systems of the subject air vehicles came up. Within this framework, TJ-1X engine project was realized between 2004 and 2005 with the aim of technical skill development and demonstration. Turbojet engine produces 25 lb thrust.
TP-1X In 2005, TP-1X turboprop engine development project which uses TJ-1X engine as core engine, was launched. It is considered that developed engine can be used at the “Turna” target drone platforms developed by TAI and related activities were planned accordingly.
Turbojet engine produces 90 lb propeller thrust. A Collaboration Protocol was signed between TAI and TEI in order to start related activities for engine integration to the aircraft and flight test. Three flight tests in total were successfully carried out, the first one was on April 04th, 2008 and the third one on December 25th, 2009. Third flight test lasted 21.5 minutes and total flight test period reached to 33.5 minutes together with 2 flights in 2008.
In 2009, Turboprop Engine Project was granted “Innovation and Technology Reward” in the 8th Technology Rewards and Congress arranged by TÜBİTAK, TTGV and TÜSİAD and “Technology Development Award” by Eskisehir Chamber of Industry.

Target Aircraft and UAV Projects (TEI-TJ-2X engines) |
|
|
TJ-2X Between November and December 2009, design, manufacturing and first test of turbojet engine providing double thrust than TJ-1X were successfully realized. This engine is aimed to be used in “Şimşek” high speed target drone platform designed by TAI.

T-38/J85 Ejector Nozzle System Development Project |
|
|
In this new nozzle development project providing thrust increase and
fuel savings in J85 engines used in T38 aircrafts, TEI and GEA
cooperated. Flight tests were performed in Edwards Air Base (California,
USA) in 2000 and performance in T-38 aircraft was approved. New ejector
nozzle system is used by NASA and American Air Force. Project was
granted “2002 General Electric Brian H.Rowe Award” and Word Magazine
“Stars of Exports 2002 Export Incentive Award”.
