TEI, Türkiye's leading aviation engine company, has created the TEI 40th Anniversary Memorial Forest by donating 17,000 saplings with contributions from its employees.
The TEI 40th Anniversary Memorial Forest, which will mitigate the damage from forest fires in Türkiye in 2025 and strengthen the existing forest population, was launched in line with the “Green Homeland Mobilization” vision initiated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The project, in which TEI employees also participated by donating a large number of saplings, was completed under the coordination of the Eskişehir Regional Directorate of Forestry. Prof. Dr. Mahmut F. Akşit, the CEO of TEI, Hasan Bozan, Deputy Regional Forestry Director of Eskişehir, Doğan Kiras, Eskişehir Forestry Operations Manager, and TEI employees participated in the tree-planting event organized as part of the project.
Speaking at the ceremony, CEO of TEI, Akşit, said, "This year, we donated a total of over 22,000 saplings. We did not achieve this solely as an institution; a significant portion came from our employees' personal donations. Türkiye is one of the few countries increasing its forest area. Our institutions are doing a great job in this regard. In regions affected by forest fires, more trees are being planted than are lost, at a very fast pace. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. “Speaking on behalf of the Eskişehir Regional Directorate of Forestry, Hasan Bozan, Deputy Director of the Eskişehir Regional Directorate of Forestry, said in his speech,” Hopefully, this donation will expand our country's forested areas and provide significant support in the fight against global warming. In addition to the TEI 40th Anniversary Memorial Forest, TEI donated 5,000 saplings to the TUSAŞ Muharrem Can Memorial Forest, established in memory of the TUSAŞ employee who lost his life during forest fire interventions in Eskişehir, and nearly 500 saplings for TEI interns. This year, TEI donated 22,500 trees.
TEI, which continues its efforts to protect nature and build a sustainable future, also continues to increase the number of nearly 7,000 trees from 45 different species on its Eskişehir campus day by day.
