Turboshaft Engine Development Project (TEDP), aims to meet the propulsion needs of ongoing projects like the Original Helicopter Program and General Purpose Helicopter in Türkiye.
The Turboshaft Engine Development Project was officially launched on March 8, 2017, with the mission of domesticating engine systems and reducing foreign dependency while increasing the domestication rate of indigenous projects.
With the project, which is being carried out under the leadership of the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) Department of Engine and Power Transmission Systems, on the one hand gas turbine engine design, development and test infrastructures are brought to our country and on the other hand, indigenous and national engine development activities of 1400 SHP power, type certificated engine which can be integrated into the Original Helicopter continues.
The TEI-TS1400 Turboshaft Engine, developed by TEI within the scope of the project, made its maiden flight with GÖKBEY, Türkiye’s first original general purpose helicopter developed by Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) at the end of April.
