TF33 Engines
DLM Project

Under the terms of the contract signed between TEI and IAMCO (International Aerospace Management Company), which took effect on January 1, 2022, and valid until December 2031, scheduled depot-level maintenance services for every 18,000-24,000 engine hours and unscheduled maintenance services for TF33-PW-100A engines of NATO AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircrafts are performed by TEI. These aircrafts are NATO's "eye in the sky " and play a crucial and unique role in protecting allied airspace. Whole maintenance work are conducted by TEI in cooperation with the 1st Air Maintenance Facility Management. Under this contract, TEI has been granted authorization to conduct maintenance and repair services on specific components and accessories (pumps, oil coolers, pipes, etc.) in addition to the engines themselves. As part of the project initiated in 1999, TEI has completed scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs on over 150 TF33-PW-100A engines so far, and delivered them to user units.

On October 31, 2023, TEI was awarded the “NAEW 145 Maintenance Organization Accreditation Certificate” the second company to meet the airworthiness requirements of the contract. As part of the certification, TF33-PW-100A engines, components, and accessories are included in the capability list for an indefinite period of time.

With a thrust of 21,500 lbf, the TF33-PW-100A turbofan engines were developed from the Pratt & Whitney J57 engine core. The commercial version (JT3D) has powered Boeing 707-120 and McDonnell Douglas DC-8 aircraft since 1960. The military version, TF33, powers the Boeing B-52H Stratofortress and KC-135s. Pratt & Whitney's TF33 engines, which currently power NATO's E-3 AWACS and the US Air Force's B-52 bombers, have accumulated more than 72 million flight hours over the past six decades. The Boeing E-3A, which has a 44.42 meter wingspan and 283 square-meter airfoil, is powered by 4 TF33-PW-100A engines, and can reach a maximum speed of 854 km/h and a range of 7,400 km.

TEI was selected as the "Best Source of Repair" by NAMSA and IAMCO in 2004, 2008 and 2012 thanks to its superior services.
