Another Important Threshold Has Been Crossed Regarding the National Helicopter Engine

TEI has become the first aviation engine company in Türkiye to obtain design organization approval.

TEI has proved its aviation engine design competence by successfully completing the procedures mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and by being entitled to be awarded with the "Design Organization Approval" (DOA) required for the type certification of domestic and national aviation engines.

For DOA, it is required to establish the procedures for organization and processes, and to develop the personnel competencies, and to define the authorities and responsibilities, with a systematic, planned, risk management-oriented approach in accordance with SHT-21/EASA Part 21 regulations.

In consequence of the audits carried out by DGCA regarding the compliance with the relevant regulations, the design competence of TEI, which complies with the international certification criteria, has been registered.

TEI that will carry out the certification of the engines, which it has developed domestically and nationally, under such authority, has become the first company in Türkiye to receive DOA approval for certification of the civil aviation engine.

Assessing the "Design Organization Approval" awarded to TEI by DGCA, Prof. Haluk Görgün, President of the Secretariat of Defence Industries, has stated that:

“TEI, which has managed to become Türkiye's first institution to be awarded with the Design Organization Approval (TOO), has made us all proud with this news. I congratulate TEI management and employees who have provided contribution to the process with their efforts and dedication. I believe that our defense industry organizations will achieve many more important successes. We will intend that “The Century of Türkiye will be the Century of Defence.”

The international civil certification process of Türkiye's first national helicopter engine, TEI-TS1400, which will power the GÖKBEY Helicopter, will be completed with the type certification process following DOA.

In addition to its national engine projects, TEI has also been certified with the Part 145 Maintenance Organization Approval granted by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) for the parts maintenance service that it has provided for TP400 engines used in A400M military cargo aircrafts since 2018.

Having left behind another milestone in the field of national engines, TEI will continue to play important roles in terms of Türkiye’s freedom in the aviaton engine field and its competitiveness on a global scale by developing certified engines that Türkiye needs in the field of military and commercial aviation.
