TEI, Turkey's leader in aviation engines, has once again demonstrated its importance to sustainability, environmental and energy management with its current activities. Even fish farming is possible in the water treated in the wastewater treatment plant, which is renewed with a budget of approximately 2,5 million TRY.
GOVERNOR AYYILDIZ OPENS THE PLANT
Reviewing its existing infrastructure for the treatment of wastewater with high pollutant properties resulting from the processing of raw materials used in the aviation industry, TEI increased the wastewater treatment quality to 99.9% as a result of an investment of 2,5 million TL and commissioned the wastewater treatment plant, which stands as an exemplary plant in Turkey.
Engin Dinç, Eskişehir Provincial Security Director, Hikmet Çelik, Eskişehir Provincial Director of Environment and Urbanization, and Prof. Mahmut F. Akşit, TEI Chairman & CEO, provided information about TEI's environmental activities while Erol Ayyıldız, Eskişehir Governor, opened the facility. Governor Ayyıldız started a treatment process at the plant after the opening.
Akşit said that they turned the facility into a central water treatment plant throughout the factory and minimized the use of chemicals in the treatment process by making wastewater varieties which react with different chemicals react with each other again. “We increased the treatment performance to 99.9% by making the necessary revisions in the existing plant and reduced our costs in accordance with today's technology. This facility that we opened emerged as a result of a series of R&D studies on wastewater released in our manufacturing activities. I would like to congratulate everyone who have contributed.” Mentioning the other environmental projects they recently carried out, Akşit stated, "We have established waste separation units in Musaözü Nature Park, which is one of the important environmental riches of our Eskişehir, to support the “Zero Waste” project on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5. We took an active role as TEI Family from the preparation of the units to be used to the training of the personnel to work in the site. We also recently commissioned a meeting room called “EcoZone”. We created all the office materials we used in this meeting room from the waste materials from our factory. Our meeting table, which consists of 270 kilograms of organic waste, is one of the first applications manufactured with a transformation activity in this context,” reminding that they are the first company in Eskişehir to be entitled to receive a Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate in their field of activity. The guests who visited the “EcoZone Meeting Room” after the opening ceremony received information about the project and watched the video prepared by TEI about environmental activities.
The event at TEI Eskişehir Campus ended recently after Governor Ayyıldız presented awards to people who took the rank in the environmental information contest among TEI employees and Governor Ayyıldız was given a present of an environmentalist flowerpot obtained from the recycling of waste carpets.
