Presidency of the Republic of Turkey President of Defence Industries Prof. İsmail Demir, Republic of Turkey Deputy Minister of National Defence Şuay Alpay, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Aerospace Prof. Rafet Bozdoğan and Turkish Aerospace Board Members visited Eskisehir Campus of TEI – TUSAS Engine Industries Inc. on Tuesday, March 16 and received information about TEI's current projects.
The team coming together under the leadership of Demir, visited the engine test cells and observed the engine tests on-site after evaluating TEI's current projects. The tests of the TEI-TS1400 engine that will power Gökbey was carried out in the “National Turboshaft Engine Test Cell”, which was designed and developed entirely by TEI engineers and technicians, and the TS3 engine, the first prototype of the TEI-TS1400 engine, was delivered to Turkish Aerospace on December 5, 2020 with a ceremony graced with the participation of our President Erdoğan. After the delivery of the TS3 engine, the production and installation of the TS4 engine, the twin brother of TS3 engine, was also successfully completed in ongoing stages and the planned test of the TS4 engine was successfully carried out with the participation of Demir.
After this test, Turkey's first Medium-Range Anti-Ship Missile Engine that is TEI-TJ300 was tested. The test of the TEI-TJ300 Turbojet Engine which has developed domestically and nationally by TEI, was also carried out in the "National Turbojet Engine Test Cell".
Demir examined TEI's work in the field of piston engines at the "Piston Engines Test Site” and also participated to the preliminary prototype test of the TEI-PD180ST engine. Ground testing in the dynamometer test assembly of the TEI-PD180ST engine which has a single turbo and is a lighter version of the TEI-PD170 engine, was also successfully performed.
President of Defence Industries Prof. İsmail Demir left the campus after the completion of the tests he participated in, having a souvenir photo taken in front of the mass manufactured TEI-PD170 engines to be delivered to Turkish Aerospace.
