TEI and BOTAŞ collaborate under the auspices of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Defence Industry Agency to meet the strategic needs of BOTAŞ with domestic solutions.
In addition to its high export volume in the defense industry and aviation, TEI, which produces added value for Türkiye's strategic needs with the domestic and national engines it has developed, signed an important protocol with BOTAŞ under the leadership of the SSB, which has strategic importance in energy supply for Türkiye and the countries in the region.
The signing ceremony was held at TEI Eskişehir campus with the participation of Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, and Prof. İsmail Demir, Secretariat of Defence Industry.
With the cooperation agreement signed between TEI and BOTAŞ, an agreement was reached in 2022 for the maintenance and repair activities, providing engineering support, localization, renewal and efficiency studies for the gas turbines in the BOTAŞ inventory. Within the scope of this agreement, maintenance and repair activities of some gas turbines still in BOTAŞ inventory are carried out by TEI.
With the protocol signed at the ceremonies, the scope of the cooperation agreement signed in 2022 was further expanded; it is aimed that all level maintenance of gas turbines within BOTAŞ will be commissioned by TEI. In addition, it is planned that TEI will be responsible for the dimensions and/or supply of the national natural gas compressor and turbine components to meet the needs of BOTAŞ. Gas turbines in BOTAŞ inventory have a critical and strategic structure in terms of energy supply security of operation. These teaching practices will continue to be carried out with the protocol signed between the relevant institutions, SSB – BOTAŞ and TEI.
Carrying out maintenance and repair activities domestically is important for the critical infrastructure safety of our country, and it is aimed to make TEI a center for heavy maintenance of turbine with these activities and to ensure the maintenance of strategically important gas turbine systems with domestic means.
The signing ceremony held at TEI Eskişehir Campus was attended by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye Fatih Dönmez, President of Secretariat of Defence Industry Prof. İsmail Demir, Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, BOTAŞ Chairman and General Manager Burhan Özcan, TEI Chairman Prof. Osman Saim Dinç and TEI CEO Prof. Mahmut F.
