Starting test performed at 750 km/h of TEI-TJ300 Turbojet Engine developed domestically and nationally by TEI for Medium Range Anti-Ship Missile.
Turkey’s first Medium Range Anti-Ship Missile Engine TEI-TJ300 was tested at Eskişehir Premises of TEI – TUSAŞ Engine Industries, Inc. with the participation of Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey.
Prof. Mahmut F. Akşit, Chairman and CEO of TEI, informed Varank before testing about the engine featuring he first turbojet in the world which is capable of producing 1,300 Newton thrust in its thrust class and in an arrow diameter, designed and produced utilizing completely domestic and national resources with its weight less than 30 kg.
Varank, in his speech following the accomplished testing, highlighted importance of the engine developed by TEI engineers for defence industry. Varank said, “Today, we have ignited TEI-TJ300 engine developed with the support of TÜBİTAK. This engine is designed for use in medium range anti-ship missiles and can be used in many different platforms. TEI-TJ300, despite its physical size, is capable of producing 1,300 Newton thrust and approximately 400 horsepower. In our country, the most important infrastructure particularly in power systems of aircrafts is established at TEI and this infrastructure is rapidly turned into products. Thanks to this fact that makes our country proud, we are able to develop many products which are subject to foreign restrictions on our own without being dependent on anyone else.” Varank, upon being informed that all hardware, software and testing systems used for testing the engine were also developed by TEI domestically and nationally, said, “You can produce a product but if you need to procure testing environment, let’s say, from a foreign country and if it does not provide it, you cannot even test that product.”
Afterwards, Varank also started TS1400, engine of Gökbey Helicopter core of which was previously ignited successfully, on the testing mechanism. He examined 6 of T700-TEI-701D engines ready for shipment which will power Black Hawk helicopters and are being produced domestically by TEI by mass production, two in a month. He also received information from Prof. Mahmut F. Akşit, Chairman and CEO of TEI, about 5 TEI-PD170 engines ready for shipment which were mass-produced by TEI for ANKA and AKSUNGUR platforms of Turkish Aerospace and about engine block which was produced for this engine domestically for the first time.
Later on, Varank accomplished final control testing of a TF33 engine that powers-up NATO-AWACS aircrafts and is serviced by TEI, and ended his visit.
Besides Varank, the said ceremony was attended by Erol Ayyıldız, Governor of Eskişehir, Ali Taha Koç, Head of Digital Transformation Office, Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Harun Karacan, Prof. Emine Nur Günay and Metin Nurullah Sazak, Eskişehir MPs, Fatih Kacır, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK and Gürcan Okumuş, TÜBİTAK SAGE Director.
