The T70 Utility Helicopter, operated by the Gendarmerie Aviation Command, performed a special flight to TEI's Eskişehir Campus, where the T700-TEI-701D turboshaft engine that powers the helicopter is manufactured.
Held under the theme "Black Hawk at the Source of Power," the event gave TEI employees the chance to see in flight the helicopter powered by an engine they helped produce.
During the event, the T70 conducted a salute flight over TEI's Eskişehir Campus, greeting TEI employees.
Türkiye's First Locally Produced Helicopter Engine: T700-TEI-701D
Powering the T70 Utility Helicopter, the T700-TEI-701D is the first helicopter engine to be locally produced in Türkiye. Manufactured at TEI's Eskişehir facilities since 2018, the 2,000-shaft-horsepower turboshaft engine powers the T70 helicopters built by prime contractor Turkish Aerospace under the Turkish Utility Helicopter Program.
The program serves six different users, including the Gendarmerie General Command, under a common configuration.
TEI Manufactured Its 100th T700-TEI-701D Engine in 2025
After producing the first engine under the program in 2018, TEI completed its 100th T700-TEI-701D in 2025.
TEI also performs maintenance on the T700-TEI-701D engines in Türkiye's inventory and is now bringing this expertise to the international market through its OEM-authorized service capability.
