Women of Aviation Worldwide Week Celebrated with Enthusiasm at TEI

TEI, Türkiye's leading aviation engine company, celebrated Women of Aviation Worldwide Week with events organized as part of its traditional “Strong Women in Aviation” program.

TEI, which has carried out numerous social responsibility projects to increase women's employment in Türkiye's aviation sector, is shining a light on the female engineers and technicians of the future through the events it held during Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, commemorating the date the world's first female pilot obtained her license. In addition to celebrations organized for hundreds of female TEI employees working at the Source of Power, hundreds of middle school girls were introduced to aviation and the defense industry through the “First Steps in Aviation” program.

First Steps in Aviation

As part of a social responsibility activity coordinated by the Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of National Education, TEI brought together more than 400 female students from different middle schools and held the “First Steps in Aviation” event at the Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Conference Hall. During the event, the female students were informed about the aviation and defense industries and TEI's activities in these fields, and they had the opportunity to meet TEI's female engineers. At the end of the event, the students were given gift packages prepared especially for them.

Strong Women in Aviation

TEI's female employees gathered at the “Strong Women in Aviation” event hosted by TEI’s CEO, Prof. Mahmut F. Akşit. Speaking at the event, Akşit celebrated Women of Aviation Worldwide Week and Women's Day. Gifts prepared with products from women's cooperatives in the region affected by the February 6 disasters were also presented to TEI women at the event.

Women in Aviation Mentorship Program

Finally, as part of the Women of Aviation Worldwide Week celebrations, the new term of the Women in Aviation Mentorship Program began with a ceremony. Participants who have the opportunity to get to know TEI and its activities closely for their professional development will receive mentorship from inspiring female leaders throughout the term. The program, part of TEI's Polar Star Mentorship Program, which supports future leaders, is open to female engineering candidates interested in aviation who are continuing their education in their third and fourth years of university.

TEI has been selected 9 times by the Institute for Women of Aviation Worldwide (iWOAW) as “The Most Female Friendly Corporation Worldwide" for its activities in previous years and the initiatives it has implemented to support its female employees. Continuing its efforts in this regard, TEI will continue its work to increase female employment in the aviation sector.
