Development of Additive Manufacturing of Ti alloys Using Electron Beam Melting

In the scope of ELEKTRON Project, the aerospace materials including Ti-Al, Ni-based alloys and Ti alloys will be manufactured by utilizing Electron Beam Melting.

The ELEKTRON Project funded by Presidency of Defense Industries aims to achieve breakthrough production of Inconel 718; suitable for gas turbine engines owing to desired material properties at extreme temperature operations under high loads, Ti6Al4V; employed in low temperature sections of engine due to low density, high fracture toughness and excellent oxidation resistance properties, Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb (Ti-Al) with low density, advanced oxidation resistance and high temperature strength properties crucial for power turbine modules. Subsequently, characterization of material properties will be conducted on samples and prototype components produced by EBM.
